In late 1977, I acquired a Yaesu FT401B, with whom I spent almost a year listening to the ham bands. With half-wave dipoles, I spent many hours listening to rag-chewing, DX, pile-ups, etc, to get knowledge and experience to my future ham life.

In April or May of 78 I had my first exam of amateur radio and only on October of 78 I received my amateur license.

On January 79 I received my first callsign, CT2CQ, which I used until December of 85, when callsigns were changed to CU, getting then my actual callsign CU3AA.

In the mean time, many were the special calls used, either for contesting or special occasions. The calls are shown next:

CQ2CQ - CQ8CQ - CU3AA/89 - CU3AA/CU8 - CU34AA - CU6/CU3AA - CU2/CU3AA/P - CU30AA - CU3W - CT7/CU3AA/P - CR2AA

CQ8CQ (again) is my actual contest callsign (to remember the old days).
